Crystal Steep Camp, January 3-4, 2008

Steep Camp at Crystal Mountain, Washington with Miles Smart

This camp is a condensed version of the classic Steep Skiing Camps created by legendary skier Doug Coombs. This two day camp is aimed to prepare skiers for our week long camps in La Grave and Chamonix, France and Verbier, Switzerland. The focus of the Crystal camp is to have fun and to ski hard, while learning about the mountains and mountain travel techniques. This is not a "course" where we will spend a lot of time standing around, but more of an adventurous and exciting two days of skiing that will tire you out and send you home with incredible memories, closer to the descents of your dreams.

What to expect during the camp:
Lots of steep skiing in Crystal's fantastic terrain.
Skiing with UIAGM Mountain Guide and Coombs protégé Miles Smart.
Basic single burial transceiver search.
Coaching in steep skiing techniques.
Basic terrain assessment and travel techniques for backcountry skiing.
If conditions allow... the use of a climbing rope to access ski terrain.

Details:
Two days, January 3-4, 2008. $445 with lift ticket/$343 without lift ticket.
Includes continental breakfast, lunch and Après gathering with video analysis the final day.
Group dinner on Friday night (optional & not included).
Registration for this camp is run through Crystal Mountain. Bring your own shovel, probe, and transceiver, or contact us if you need to borrow them. Bring your own ski or snowboard equipment and day packs.
